Roscomare Road Music - "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" for Ukes from Richard Lawton on Vimeo.
We are also playing and singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," the famous Judy Garland/Wizard of Oz song that was also a hit for Hawaiian singer Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. The Tutorial just covers the chords and the intro, but if you can play all four of them you can play the chords where they occur in the song.Friday, February 24, 2017

Hi 5th Grade -- here's the Hawaiian song we will be performing for Culture Day next Friday. It's a pretty easy song, mostly on two chords, F and C7.Roadrunner String Band - "Tideo"

Here's the song we will be playing to accompany the 2nd graders dance on culture day. You may find the chords D and A a bit of challenge, but with practice you should be able to change keys in the middle of the song -- something we call modulation.Roadrunner String Band -- "Three Little Birds"

Here's the second of our songs that uses ukulele. As the tutorial explains the strumming pattern here is as important as playing the right chords.Roadrunner String Band -- "Simple Gifts"

Greetings Roadrunners -- as the saying goes, better late than never. Here is the first of three tutorial videos for the songs we will be playing in our upcoming shows. I am also posting the music. If it is tuning you like I will be posting a tuning video this evening, but you can also click on the link on the right side of this blog page that says "Uke Tuner." I look forward to seeing you this Sunday!Thursday, February 2, 2017
Third Grade Recorder -- "Water Come A Me Eye"
New Three Minute Recorder - "Water Come A Me Eye" - Part 1 from Richard Lawton on Vimeo.
What's up third grade? Here's a tutorial on "Water Come A Me Eye." Remember, I will be asking all of you to play the first line next week, so try to put into 6-10 minutes of practice a day between now and then -- that's like watching this video twice. The music is posted here too. We are just playing the recorder 1 part (top line through out the score). Not much time till culture day, so get to it. :)
